There’s only one thing to do when you’re tired of Chang and Singha beers: try over 100 types of imported craft beer at 5 of the best breweries in Bangkok.

1. Mikkeller

What’s better than drinking your own artisanal draft? Obvious answer: giving them funky names like Ginger Garfunkle or the Beer Murray. While neither are actual Mikkeller craft names, the pub prides itself with random titles for over 30 kinds of beers from around the world. As importers of international craft beers, Mikkeller also brews their own concoctions. Lubricated Labrador, Smoldering Holes and Youfuckedmeup&Imfurious are just some of the names of over 350 craft beers in Mikkeller’s passionate repertoire.

Conveniently located in a street just minutes away from Skumvit and Thonglor, Mikkeller was birthed as a joint effort by a couple of beer lovers who now run their beer import company. Mikkeller is one of the top picks to enjoy in-house and global craft beers. When you arrive, you may want to table in Mikkeller’s cozy bright indoors, its breezy outdoor garden, or upstairs for a more intimate setting with your date.

2. Beerology

Perhaps you’re a craft beer enthusiast. Perhaps you’re a connoisseur of alcoholic beverages. Or perhaps you’re just a beer-lover learning to appreciate the fine art of brewery with your mates; Beerology has something for the casuals and aficionados alike. The pub serves 6 popular commercial beers on tap (Hoegaarden, Stella Artois, Leffe, Hofbrau, Guinness, Kilkenny), as well as imported craft beers. The clincher?  7 hours all-you-can-drink booze buffet for a single price.

Beerology is located a distance from central Bangkok but is worth the trip as the pub offers a variety of foods and ciders in addition to serving over 100 domestic and international beers. There is also a TV airing football daily as well as a frequent live DJ for entertainment. Make sure you decide to beer from 5 PM onward as Beerology offers a pretty sweet buy-2-free-1 happy hour promotion.

We aren’t sure if you should have happy hour promotions before going for the booze buffet, but we are sure it won’t matter after.

3. Wishbeer

Literally a beer factory, this brewpub was once a factory turned home bar. What’s as great as Wishbeer’s 200-strong list of import beers is their bright and dedicated atmosphere. Dozens of bottles double as both quick menus and eye-catching decor, neatly stacked across a shelf. To boot, Wishbeer has 18 beers on tap with some proud names such as Sandport,  CoronadoPlisner, and of course, Guinness.

The success of being Thailand’s #1 online beer shop naturally led to French owner Jerome Le Louer’s realization for a bar. Located at Sukhumvit 67, Wishbeer Home Bar is aptly named to be a place where patrons can feel at home while drinking their favorite brews. Serving over 200 brands of beer and cider, Wishbeer also serves coffee, croissants and fresh juice. You could also enjoy some fine tunes by ocassional open-micers as well as bands depending on when you arrive. Wishbeer is the bar you should visit if you want a bright indoor bar with a home-y element.

4. BREW – Beers & Ciders

BREW boasts to be the first and most famous import beer bar in Thailand with over 500 international beers and ciders. Decide for yourself when you visit any of their three outlets.

BREW: Thonglor Soi 13

BREW at Thonglor is about the liveliest outdoor pub in the region. Tables are closely-arranged across an open-aired courtyard vacated by lively crowds looking to kick back. Choose from a range of 100 imported bottled labels or 8 from the draft. If you’re a newbie to craft beer, simply check out their convenient wall chart that compares and contrasts beers/ciders. The highlight at Thonglor are their juicy burgers made by burger ‘producers’. Cold cuts, cheese platters and other common bar snacks are also served, definitively making it a staple watering hole.

BREW: Sukhumvit Soi 11

In stark contrast to its sibling bar, BREW at Sukhumvit is a serene and mellow bar, perfect for truly tasting and savoring a trappist beer. What are trappist beers? Brews made by Belgian monks in monasteries. This could be why BREW at Sukhumvit is the ideal place to reflect, meditate, or find zen at the bottom of a mug. Quiet and cozy, this is a great place to bring your date if you’re looking for a laid-back environment.

Location30 Soi 11 Sukhumvit, Klongtoey Nua, Wattana Bangkok, Thailand

Operating Hours: Daily, 11:00 AM – 2:00 AM

BREW: The Beer Cap, Thonglor Soi 17

The Beer Cap is situated on the market floor in the middle of the Commons Market. The pub here has more of a  commercial vibe with short wooden stools and tables for sitting. The bar is decorated with hundreds of bottle caps, hence the name. Although the Beer Cap doesn’t offer food, neighboring stalls vary between Mexican restaurants and grills. The Beer Cap is a place to check out if you’re in the area looking for food and craft beers.

Location355, Soi 17 Thonglor, Sukhumvit 55, Klongton – Nua Bang Kapi, Krung Thep, Thailand

Operating Hours: Daily, 11:00 AM – 1:00 AM

5. Craft

While BREW boasts to be the most famous, Craft brags to offer the largest craft selection in Thailand (at least that’s what they say on their website). With an impressive variety of over 170 craft beers, Craft is the better and tastier alternative when you inevitably get bored of Chang, Leo, or Singha (local commercial beers found everywhere). What’s just as impressive as their selection of crafts are their burgers. There’s just something about burgers, beers and fries that go so well and Craft knows this well.

Craft 23

Location:  CRAFT (Sukhumvit 23), 16 Soi Sukhumvit 23, Khlong Toei Nuea, Watthana, Bangkok 10110, Thailand

Having expanded as the love-child of passionate craft beer importers, Craft now operates in two locations:  Craft 23 at Sukhumvit 23 and Craft Silom 981 at Silom. Be sure to visit either of these pubs at any time as Craft continually brings and adds new beers to their selection.
